LitJoy Crate | July 2018 Unboxing

LitJoy Unboxing
Theme: “Warriors of the Stars”

Featured Book

This month’s featured book was Sanctuary by Caryn Lix, which is a signed LitJoy exclusive edition. Admittedly I don’t read a ton of science fiction, so I haven’t heard of this book before, but it sounds intriguing!

Book Description (from Goodreads): Kenzie holds one truth above all: the company is everything.

As a citizen of Omnistellar Concepts, the most powerful corporation in the solar system, Kenzie has trained her entire life for one goal: to become an elite guard on Sanctuary, Omnistellar’s space prison for superpowered teens too dangerous for Earth. As a junior guard, she’s excited to prove herself to her company—and that means sacrificing anything that won’t propel her forward.

But then a routine drill goes sideways and Kenzie is taken hostage by rioting prisoners.

At first, she’s confident her commanding officer—who also happens to be her mother—will stop at nothing to secure her freedom. Yet it soon becomes clear that her mother is more concerned with sticking to Omnistellar protocol than she is with getting Kenzie out safely.

As Kenzie forms her own plan to escape, she doesn’t realize there’s a more sinister threat looming, something ancient and evil that has clawed its way into Sanctuary from the vacuum of space. And Kenzie might have to team up with her captors to survive—all while beginning to suspect there’s a darker side to the Omnistellar she knows.

Firefly Quote Pillow

I’ve never watched Firefly, but I know it has quite the following! This pillowcase is beautiful, as is the quote. This gem was designed by Evie Seo.

Guardians of the Galaxy Tote

This LitJoy cross body tote is super cute, and I love Guardians of the Galaxy! I have cats, so black is kind of the bane of my existence at home, but I’ll definitely be putting this to good use in the future!

Groot Cube Art Holder

Seriously, how cute is this LitJoy exclusive Groot art holder? I’m using it to hold one of my kid’s pictures right now, but I think it’d look great holding a print.

Star Wars Enamel Pin

I’m a sucker for enamel pins, and this one is just too perfect! Another LitJoy exclusive.

Who doesn’t love a cute bookmark in their book box? This Drawn to the Pages bookmark fits this month’s theme perfectly!

This month’s crate also included an Aloy art print, designed by Maggie Rose. It’s stunning, right?

Bookish Extras

I also received a booklet explaining this month’s crate and the next two LitJoy trading cards! These two cards are from The Lunar Chronicles and feature Levana on one card and Kai and Cinder on the other. I’m looking forward to getting the whole set!

While science fiction isn’t my preferred genre, this was another cool crate! The pin and bookmark are my favorite item’s in this crate.
