OwlCrate | May Unboxing

I’m absolutely loving my OwlCrate subscription! If you haven’t checked it already, you should! Each box I’ve received so far has been filled with amazing goodies.

Theme: “Fight Like a Girl”

Featured Book

This month’s book was a signed copy of Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young. I read this book as a NetGalley ARC, so I’m happy to have a copy on my bookshelf!

Book Description (from Goodreads): OND ELDR. BREATHE FIRE.

Raised to be a warrior, seventeen-year-old Eelyn fights alongside her Aska clansmen in an ancient rivalry against the Riki clan. Her life is brutal but simple: fight and survive. Until the day she sees the impossible on the battlefield — her brother, fighting with the enemy — the brother she watched die five years ago.

Faced with her brother’s betrayal, she must survive the winter in the mountains with the Riki, in a village where every neighbor is an enemy, every battle scar possibly one she delivered. But when the Riki village is raided by a ruthless clan thought to be a legend, Eelyn is even more desperate to get back to her beloved family.

She is given no choice but to trust Fiske, her brother’s friend, who sees her as a threat. They must do the impossible: unite the clans to fight together, or risk being slaughtered one by one. Driven by a love for her clan and her growing love for Fiske, Eelyn must confront her own definition of loyalty and family while daring to put her faith in the people she’s spent her life hating.

Extra Book

This month also included an extra book, Catching Stars by Cayla Keenan. It’s an OwlCrate exclusive edition. I don’t know anything about the book, but it sounds interesting!

Book Description (from Goodreads): Jayin Ijaad is in hiding. A witch with powerful abilities, she carves out a life for herself in the slums of Pavaal, a city rotting from the inside out. When an old acquaintance tracks her down, Jayin is dragged back into a world she tried to escape — and is determined to escape again.

Maddix Kell is on the run. After two years in prison for crimes he did not commit, Maddix escapes and seeks out a legendary order of witchhunters who are his only chance to find justice.

But all is not as it seems and Maddix soon finds himself on the run from the people he sought as allies. When their paths collide, Jayin and Maddix must put aside their prejudices and forge an uneasy alliance that could crumble at any moment. But if they want to survive in Aestos — a brutal kingdom where magic and corruption lie hand in hand and enemies lurk around every corner — they must first survive each other.

A Court of Thorns and Roses Wall Hanging

Designed by Evie Bookish, this ACOTAR wall hanging is amazing! I plan on hanging it in our bedroom, a decision my husband fully supports.

Inej Print

The Wraith print, inspired by Six of Crows, was created by Melanie Bourgeois. While I like it, it’s not very bright. It’s almost as though the printer was running out of ink, but maybe that’s the intended style.

This double-sided bookmark was designed by Indigo Eleven, inspired by both The Wrath and the Dawn and Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh. I can always use more bookmarks, so I was happy to see this included in my box!

Bath Bomb

The Whipped Up Wonderful store created this Children of Blood and Bone inspired bath bomb. It’s gorgeous and smells amazing! My daughter already snagged it (and used it!) My only gripe is that it stains the tub a wicked red, but I usually have to scrub the tub after my daughter uses a bath bomb, so it’s not out of the norm.

Pins, Pins, Pins!

Three pins were included in this month’s OwlCrate. First off, I received an Out of Print enamel pin that says “When In Doubt, Go To The Library.” I love this pin! The second pin is a Sky in the Deep inspired pin, and the last pin is the OwlCrate monthly pin.

Bookish Extras

The OwlCrate box also came with literature explaining the “Fight Like a Girl” box, as well as a sneak peak into next month’s “Summer Lovin'” box. Next month’s box sounds awesome, so I’m already eagerly anticipating it!

This was a wonderful, high-valued box! With the exception of the print, I’ll be keeping and using all of these items!

Let’s Talk!

Did you receive this month’s OwlCrate box? What did you think?
