April OwlCrate – Unboxing

I’m absolutely loving my OwlCrate subscription! If you haven’t checked it already, you should! Each box I’ve received so far has been filled with amazing goodies.

Theme: “Shadows & Secrets”

Featured Book

This month’s book was a signed copy of Ace of Shades by Amanda Foody, which features an OwlCrate exclusive cover. I’ve heard so many rave reviews of this book, so I’m excited to dive in!

Book Description (from Goodreads): Welcome to the City of Sin, where casino families reign, gangs infest the streets…
and secrets hide in every shadow.

Enne Salta was raised as a proper young lady, and no lady would willingly visit New Reynes, the so-called City of Sin. But when her mother goes missing, Enne must leave her finishing school—and her reputation—behind to follow her mother’s trail to the city where no one survives uncorrupted.

Frightened and alone, her only lead is a name: Levi Glaisyer. Unfortunately, Levi is not the gentleman she expected—he’s a street lord and a con man. Levi is also only one payment away from cleaning up a rapidly unraveling investment scam, so he doesn’t have time to investigate a woman leading a dangerous double life. Enne’s offer of compensation, however, could be the solution to all his problems.

Their search for clues leads them through glamorous casinos, illicit cabarets and into the clutches of a ruthless mafia donna. As Enne unearths an impossible secret about her past, Levi’s enemies catch up to them, ensnaring him in a vicious execution game where the players always lose. To save him, Enne will need to surrender herself to the city…

And she’ll need to play.

OwlCrate Exclusive Coffee

Included in this month’s crate was an OwlCrate exclusive coffee from Bones Coffee Company. The flavor is Deadly Dark Chocolate and Sea Salt. I’m not a huge coffee drinker, but I’m intrigued. My husband is looking forward to trying it, so I’ll nip some of his once he makes a cup.

OwlCrate Exclusive Pillowcase

This OwlCrate Exclusive pillowcase was inspired by Crooked Kingdom and designed by Stella Bookish Art. While the artwork is aesthetically pleasing, I’m not sure I’ll ever use the pillowcase, so I’ll probably gift it or sell it at some point.

OwlCrate Exclusive Soap

Yet another OwlCrate exclusive item! This Wild Berry Shadowhunter bar soap was made by Three Sisters Apothecary by Soap Cauldron. It smells like a dream. I’m planning on using it tonight!

Pencils, Pin, and Sticker

Included in the crate was an exclusive pencil set, created in collaboration with Jubilee Designs. I rarely use pencils, so this is another item I’ll either gift or sell. I love the sticker inspired by The Young Elites (created by artist Jamila Mehio), and the OwlCrate button pins are always a welcome token.

Bookish Extras

The OwlCrate box also came with literature explaining the “Shadows & Secrets” box, as well as a sneak peak into next month’s “Fight Like a Girl” box. I have no idea what the book next month is going to be, but I’m already looking forward to it. I also received Ace of Shades postcards and a sneak peek of Stephanie Garber’s Legendary.

Let’s Talk!

Did you receive this month’s OwlCrate box? What did you think? While I enjoyed this month’s box, I didn’t like it quite as well as my last two boxes.
