February was a month of firsts, because I also got my first LitJoy Crate! What a cool subscription box this was. Honestly, I love all three book boxes I got in February.
Theme: “Upon Her Throne”
This month’s featured book was The Queen’s Rising by Rebecca Ross. This book was already on my TBR list, so I’m excited to have received it. It also included a signed book plate and a letter from the author.
Book Description (from Goodreads): When her seventeenth summer solstice arrives, Brienna desires only two things: to master her passion and to be chosen by a patron.
Growing up in the southern Kingdom of Valenia at the renowned Magnalia House should have prepared her for such a life. While some are born with an innate talent for one of the five passions—art, music, dramatics, wit, and knowledge—Brienna struggled to find hers until she belatedly chose to study knowledge. However, despite all her preparations, Brienna’s greatest fear comes true—the solstice does not go according to plan and she is left without a patron.
Months later, her life takes an unexpected turn when a disgraced lord offers her patronage. Suspicious of his intent, and with no other choices, she accepts. But there is much more to his story, and Brienna soon discovers that he has sought her out for his own vengeful gain. For there is a dangerous plot being planned to overthrow the king of Maevana—the archrival kingdom of Valenia—and restore the rightful queen, and her magic, to the northern throne. And others are involved—some closer to Brienna than she realizes.
With war brewing between the two lands, Brienna must choose whose side she will remain loyal to—passion or blood. Because a queen is destined to rise and lead the battle to reclaim the crown. The ultimate decision Brienna must determine is: Who will be that queen?
This month’s box included a Stone of Eventide necklace, which is inspired by The Queens’ Rising. It’s cute and will pair nicely with several shirts I own.
This beautiful constellation scarf is probably my favorite item in the box! It’s a LitJoy Crate exclusive, soft, and simply stunning.
A “Passion” bath bomb was included in this month’s box, created by the Fizzy Fairy Apothecary. I got the blue bath bomb, which is supposed to be Knowledge. I’m not big into taking baths, but my daughter thinks bath bombs are the coolest, so I think I’ll slip this into one of her birthday gifts next month.
This LitJoy Crate exclusive bookmark has a Heartless by Marissa Meyer quote on it. It’s a nice sturdy bookmark, one I’ll definitely be using.
Yara Noë was this month’s featured artist, and a Sansa Stark art print was included in the box. While it’s a pretty neat print, it’s not really my decorating style, so I doubt I’ll end up displaying it.
The LitJoy box came with literature explaining the “Upon Her Throne” box, as well as a sneak peak into Restore Me, Tahereh Mafi’s newest book. Yara Noë was also the cover artist for the booklet you see on the left in the photo below.
