Let’s Chat – About Me

I’m starting a new series of blog posts in 2018 called “Let’s Chat.” I talk plenty about books (because books!), but I don’t share too much about my life outside of books. So let’s get personal. Let’s chat.

This week I’ll share a little bit more about me.

First off, I was born and raised in Iowa. Despite what some might think, it isn’t all corn and cows. I love it here, and I love that I’m raising my family here.

I met my husband in college. I was friends with his roommates. I thought he was cute, so I asked him out. Six months later, we were engaged! We married the following year when we were 21. Yes, we were young, but when you know, you know. We’ve been very happily married for over 10 years now!

We have two kids–a 7-year-old girl and a nearly 2-year-old boy. They are amazing, and I am so blessed to be their mommy.

We also have three cats running around the house–Comet, Cardini, and Emma. They are ridiculously spoiled and enjoy snuggling with me while I read.

I went to school for English Literature (big surprise!) but ended up in the manufacturing world. At first it was because of job availability, but I find that most days I enjoy the challenges of having a STEM career.

I am an INTJ and an introvert to the extreme. I enjoy hibernating from the world on weekends and spending time with my family. If I didn’t have to work, I’m not sure how often I’d leave my house (no, seriously!) My job requires me to more extroverted than I like, so work tends to be my biggest stressor.

I am slowly going back to school for my MBA. I take online classes here and there, though not as consistently as I should. I’m halfway done and hope to have my degree finished up by the end of the year. Fingers crossed.

When I’m not reading, I also enjoy playing tennis, hiking, playing video games, and cooking (or mostly just eating).

More next time . . .

Let’s Talk!

  4. Getting to know you better is truly amazing, Ashley! Aww, it’s so sweet that your hubby and you met in college and had a wonderful marriage ever since! ❤ I bet your kids are super lucky to have such a lovely mommy like you. 😀 Well, I used to be an introvert and keep most of my feelings to myself but since I discovered Goodreads, Twitter and the blogging community, I've been more open to others! Especially when I realized how down-to-earth most of my bookish friends are. 😉 Anyway, great post & I'll definitely look forward to more like this! 🙂
